The Materials Research Society–Taiwan (MRS-T) will publish a special issue in MRS Energy & Sustainability that includes full papers submitted to and presented at 2021 MRSTIC with the topics of Energy and Environmental Materials.

In view of the fast-growing research activities in energy and environmental materials, this special issue looks for original research papers and topical reviews related to the following topics:

  1. New and emerging materials paradigms in light-harvesting devices, including advanced materials for halide perovskite solar cells, organic solar cells, inorganic thin-film solar cells (CIGS, CdTe, etc.), new photovoltaic fabrication techniques and applications, and fundamental physics/chemistry of photovoltaics;
  2. Photoelectrochemistry and photophysics of semiconductor nanostructures, including scientific challenges of integrating the light absorbers and catalysts into subsystems, with the goal of achieving water splitting, CO2 reduction, solar fuel generation, as well as environmental purification;
  3. Energy conversion and generation, covering fundamental theories, synthesis, transport property measurements of the sustainable materials as well as device design and working mechanism used for thermoelectric, piezoelectric, and triboelectric devices;
  4. Energy storage technologies, covering fundamental studies, synthesis of advanced electrode or electrolyte materials in energy storage systems, advanced analytical and simulation methods to evaluate the charge storage mechanism for fuel cells as well as electrochemical batteries (Li-ion, Li-S, Na-ion, K-ion, Mg-ion, Ca-ion, Al-ion, Zn-ion, metal-air batteries, etc.), supercapacitors, and redox-flow batteries.

All submitted manuscripts for this special issue will undergo a peer-review process before publication.

Expected number of full articles in the special issue: 50

Submission deadline: January 16, 2022
