Scope & Topics
Biomaterials play a pivotal role in field of tissue engineering and nanomedicine. Nowadays, biomimetic matrices have been created to elicit specific cellular functions and to direct cell-cell interactions. The functions of living cells can also be regulated by stimuli-responsive bioconstructs which respond to the changes in the surrounding microenvironment. Alternatively, smart biomaterials can be tailored to deliver therapeutics to the designated site of the body for disease monitoring, diagnosis and therapy or served as viable complex systems that interact with living organisms and encourage their proper and different biological functions. The current development of functionalized smart biomaterials and potential applications in tissue engineering and nanomedicine will be widely discussed and covered in this symposium.
