Symposium C1. Biomimetic and Bio-inspired Materials

Organizers:
Po-Yu ChenNational Tsing Hua University
Yi-Chang ChungNational Kaohsiung University
Scope & Topics

Most biological (natural) materials are composites with complex structures and remarkable properties, which have risen from hundreds of millions years of evolution. The distinguishing characteristics, such as self-assembly, structural hierarchy, multi-functionality, and environmental adaptability, have continued to inspire scientists and engineers in the design and synthesis of novel materials with superior properties. Bio-mimetic/Bio-inspired material is a new and growing field in bio-related materials research and has attracted increasing attention in recent years. This symposium will bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers from biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science and engineering fields to present and discuss the latest studies and achievement in this area.
