Scope & Topics

Next generation photovoltaics are attractive for renewable clean power source because of the prospect of light weight, low cost, high throughput, and environmental friendliness. At present, inorganic, organic and inorganic-organic hybrid materials all show promising prospect of high-power conversion efficiency. This symposium will focus on new and emerging materials paradigms in light-harvesting devices. New efficiency-improving technologies and system designs will be compared and contrasted through contributions from several different disciplines in materials science, from fundamental chemistry and physics through processing and device manufacture. Symposium topics will include (but not limited to):

  1. Halide perovskite solar cells
  2. Organic solar cells
  3. Inorganic thin-film solar cells (CIGS, CdTe, etc.)
  4. New photovoltaic fabrication techniques
  5. New photovoltaic applications
  6. Fundamental physics/chemistry of the photovoltaics
